Overview
Carlsbad Caverns and Ice Caves are both worthwhile, but they are not a natural same-day combination. Use this hub to choose the southeast desert trip or the western volcanic-landscape trip before opening a full guide.
That distinction is a feature, not a limitation: each cave can anchor a very different New Mexico experience when the surface drive, overnight town, and season are planned honestly.
